Why Social Media Is Never a One Person Job

One title, six disciplines

“Social media manager” usually means strategist, copywriter, camera operator, editor, publisher and analyst.

Each of those is a craft. Asking one person to hold all six means five of them get whatever is left after the sixth.

The bottleneck is always editing

Ideas and footage pile up faster than anyone can cut them. Nine times out of ten the backlog is at the edit, not the idea.

Separating capture from post-production is the single change that unblocks most teams.

Someone has to own the numbers

If reading performance is nobody's specific job, it becomes a monthly guess dressed as a report.

It needs a name against it, and enough distance from the making to say a format is not working.

A team makes consistency possible

Consistency is not discipline, it is capacity. One person can be consistent for about six weeks.

Splitting the work is what makes a year of it survivable.
